Why am I doing this?

In May of 2004, Jerry Diller and I found our book: "Cultural Competence: A Primer for Educators" available for review by potential adopters at a time when the State of Oregon was holding a statewide "Summit on Cultural Competence."

Since then interest in the book in Oregon and elsewhere has escalated. Oregon Senator Avel Gordly, on November 30, suggested that every teacher in the state should read this book and that someone should pursue funding to furnish those books! (Nike are you listening?)

Following the meeting someone asked me if I had any ideas of how to keep the momentum going. The next week, Chester Bateman at our new School of Education suggested I try a blog. Here is our experiment.
